Unique MGO™ Manuka Honey is harvested from a New Zealand shrub called commonly called Manuka or botanically known as Leptospermum scoparium. Until recently the distinctive anti-bacterial activity of manuka honey was known and measured by a general measurement of its biological effect.
What was causing the antibacterial activity was unknown for almost 15 years until a research group headed by Professor Thomas Henle of the University of Dresden (Germany) discovered what makes MGO™Manuka Honey so unique.
MGO™ Manuka honey has a significant Dietary Methylglyoxal content ranging from 20mg/kg to over 800mg/kg. In comparison all other tested honeys worldwide have ranged between 1 to 10 mg/kg.
