Zinc is an important mineral for the development and proper function of the immune system, mucous membrane and skin integrity, as well as normal brain function. Zinc is essential for the production and function of DNA and RNA, which means that growth and repair of cells depends on the body’s ability to access this mineral. Considering zinc is deficient in New Zealand soils, common colds and flu may be associated with a dietary deficiency in zinc. The l-monomethionine form of this mineral is highly absorbable and does not affect copper absorption or utilisation.
